Huckabee and Vander Plaats fundraiser now FREE!

Dear Iowa Team Huck,

I sent you a newsletter a couple of weeks ago which included information on the event with potential Gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats and Governor Mike Huckabee called "Leadership at the Lakes" on June 10 at Arnolds Park.

I am please to inform you that due to the generosity of one of the event sponsors, this event is now FREE and open to all Huck PAC members!

I have once again included information on the event for you.

What: Leadership at the Lakes
When: June 10th, 2009
Time: 4:45 to 7:00
Where: Arnolds Park Pavilion: 243 W. Broadway Street, Arnold's Park, IA 51331
Guests: Governor Mike Huckabee and Bob Vander Plaats
Description:
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, whose stunning victory in Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses fueled a strong bid for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, will be the keynote speaker at a June 10 fundraising event in Spirit Lake for likely 2010 gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats.

Called "An Evening of Politics In The Park," the Vander Plaats event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the program will start at 5:00 p.m. at ArnoldsPark, 243 W. Broadway St., Spirit Lake.

"I've called Bob Vander Plaats 'the next governor of Iowa' on many occasions and I've done it deliberately and with good reason," Huckabee said. "Bob Vander Plaats is an exceptional leader with the kind of everyday, real-world experience in education, human services and the private sector that will be so valuable to the taxpayers of Iowa as he works to reform Iowa's state government. That's why I'd like to see him win next year and that's why I hope Iowans will join us in Spirit Lake on June 10."

Please send an email to tim.dusenbery@teamvp2010.com if you plan to attend the event or have questions.

Thanks,

Huckabee endorses Grassley

May 28, 2009 - 10:54 PM
Chuck Grassley Endorsement
by Mike Huckabee
I am pleased to endorse my good friend, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley for re-election to the United States Senate. Chuck Grassley has earned our support. He is a common sense conservative who works hard to promote our values of low taxes and limited government in Washington. I know that we can count on Chuck Grassley to continue his rigorous government oversight. He is a leader when it comes to shedding light on the federal bureaucracy and bringing transparency to the people's business.

Senator Grassley is a native Iowan. He has been active in politics since 1959, serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1959 until 1974, when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he served three terms. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 1980 and is presently 11th in seniority in the Senate. In fact, he recently cast his 10,000th vote in the Senate, joining only 28 other senators in history to achieve that milestone.

Chuck Grassley provides common sense answers and solutions for the important issues of our day. He knows that higher taxes kill jobs. All of the bailouts in the world can't create jobs if taxes are increased to pay for them. Chuck is also one of our foremost experts in the Senate on energy. He recognizes that affordable fuel for our automobiles and power for our homes is critical. Senator Grassley advocates developing each and every resource we have. Ethanol, coal, natural gas, nuclear and petroleum resources must be developed. Chuck views the "so-called cap and trade" scheme as a guarantee of drastically higher costs for families and small businesses in America.

Chuck Grassley is a member of several important Senate committees including: Finance, Judiciary, Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, Budget and the Joint Committee on Taxation. His experience, coupled with his pragmatic, common sense approach to government is needed now more than ever in Washington.

If you asked Senator Grassley, I am sure he would be the first to say that we don't always agree on every issue, we do however share the same traditional values and we both love Iowa very much. He is an effective advocate for family values-being 100% pro-life and pro-marriage.

I urge you to support Senator Chuck Grassley for re-election to the United States Senate from Iowa.

Thank you for your help.

Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee returns to Iowa

May 24, 2009 - 10:25 AM
Iowa News Letter - May 2009
by Lori Jungling - Iowa Coordinator
Dear Iowa Team Huck members,

Greetings fellow Team Huck volunteers and what a great time to be an Iowan! On Wednesday, June 10th, Governor Huckabee will be visiting our great state and will be doing a couple of events in the Lake Okoboji area. If you have never been to this beautiful part of our state this would be a great time to visit. (I have had family vacations there since 1973!)

On June 10th Governor Huckabee will be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Association of Business and Industry's annual convention "Taking Care of Business" in Okoboji. The conference is a week long but day passes can be purchased for $150 which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus the full day of presentations. The Governor will be speaking at 2:15 p.m. on the topic of Climate Change---Iowa's Business Climate and How to Make it Hot. The nation's economy is tough, and surviving in this business environment will require innovation in the marketplace and confrontation of anti-business policies. This is being seeing across the country as well as right here in Iowa. In this session we will discuss what steps our country and Iowa needs to take to change the direction for business owners and entrepreneurs.

Please visit the ABI's website for more information on the convention.

Later that same day Governor Huckabee will be a special guest at 2010 gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats' fundraiser "Leadership at the Lakes" at the Pavilion at Arnolds Park (243 W. Broadway St., Spirit Lake, IA) beginning at 5:00 p.m. Guests will be treated to entertainment and live music featuring the Governor. Tickets are $100 and if you plan on attending please call Tim Dusenberry at 515-473-0753 to RSVP by June 8.

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?

I would like to encourage you to visit the Iowa page on Huck PAC to keep up on what Team Huck is doing in our state. Please sign up for a Team Huck account if you haven't already and join the your county's group. If you don't see a Team Huck group for your county please start one! Our goal is to eventually have groups in all of our 99 counties. We can do it! Once you have joined or created a group feel free to create events and chat with other members.

While you are on the Iowa page be sure to read the blog posts by members of our team and also visit the Iowa blogroll for more Huck PAC blogs. There are so many useful resources on Huck PAC such as the Team Huck Help Guide, 10 Ways To Get Started Today, and a Downloads section that gives you resources and fliers for events.

Lastly, our state has a $2,000 fundraising goal by the end of June. Please use your contacts to help raise money for Huck PAC. If you have a Team Huck account you will also have a donor code that people can donate under so you can get credit. This number can be found on your dashboard and you can copy and paste it in emails or you can use the "send to a friend" option to contact people about donating. By the way, if you donate $30 to Huck PAC in the month of May you will receive an official Team Huck t-shirt!

I will leave you with a little teaser about what is coming up. In future newsletters you will be learning more about a Huck PAC fundraiser we will be doing in September in the Des Moines area which will include Team Huck members from another state. We are just in the beginning stages of planning but it is looking to be a very big and successful event!

Thank you for your commitment,

Lori Jungling
